Who I Help
I work primarily with high-achieving professionals and couples navigating demanding careers, significant responsibility, and complex personal lives.
Find the page that best fits you
You do not need to fit neatly into one category. These pages describe some of the people I commonly work with and the pressures that can come with their work, relationships, responsibilities, and personal lives.
Therapy for people who are used to carrying a lot
The people I work with have different careers, responsibilities, and personal lives, but many share a similar experience.
Other people may see you as capable, successful, thoughtful, or dependable. You may be the person who keeps things moving, solves problems, makes difficult decisions, or takes care of everyone else.
Privately, you may feel anxious, burned out, self-critical, emotionally disconnected, or unable to fully switch off.
You may still be functioning well. You may still be working, leading, parenting, and meeting your responsibilities. But the way you are living, thinking, or relating may be costing you more than other people realize.
Therapy offers a private place to understand what is happening underneath the stress and address the patterns affecting your work, relationships, and personal life.
A direct and thoughtful approach
I am Dr. Joe Rustum, a licensed clinical psychologist. I work with individuals, couples, and families in Nashville and online.
My approach is direct, thoughtful, and practical. We will work to understand what is actually happening, identify the patterns keeping the problem going, and make changes that fit your personality, circumstances, and goals.
